Event Description:
Friday, 27, 2018 (2-3 hours in the evening)
  • Check in and meet and greet social at JNB community room with refreshments/snacks & drinks
Saturday, April 28, 2018 activities (some of which will be held more than once during the day)
  • Box lunch provided along with water and other snacks.
  • Guided Golden-Cheeked Warbler walks (Walks on different trails and repeated multiple times during the day with max. of 10 participants per walk)
  • Guided Bird walks in Pecan Bottom (repeated)
  • Guided Riparian/Bird walk along river (repeated)
  • Drop-in Bird Blind visits with volunteer hosts at each blind
  • Bird Photography (walk and/or at Acorn Blind)
  • Community/Family/Children activities at main day use area including the following
          Last Chance Forever program
          Beginners bird walk
          Children's activities
  • Related Nonprofit Organizations' and Agencies' and possible vendors'(no sales?) displays/information at main day use area
  • Night birding, etc. hike for evening activity
Sunday, April 29, 2018, morning only activities
  • Taco breakfast provided (or this could be done on Sat. instead)
  • Guided Golden-Cheeked Warbler walk(s) first thing after tacos
  • "The Big Sit" (see below)

Organizers and Facilitators
  • The SLRSP Friends Group Board, working with the SLRSP staff, will be the primary organizers and facilitators of the event
  • Specifically Scott Richardson, board member, and his wife, Martha have volunteered to take the lead in coordinating the event under the guidance of Scott Whitener, Park Superintendent, Holly Platz, Park Interpreter, and the SLRSP Friends Group Board.
  • Other SLRSP Friends Group Board members will be asked to volunteer for various other needs in both organizing and running the event.
Registration and fee
  • Advanced registration and a fee will be required for participants
  • No fee for community/family/children event
  • Begin check in Fri. evening and then again Sat. morning to save time.
